All of us experience depression at one point in our lives. We experience many problems during our lifetime that is why it is but natural to feel depressed at times. But there are situations when the depression can get serious. That would be the right time to seek help for these people. Because often times the consequences can be devastating. In this article we are going to look at some signs of knowing when to seek help for depression.
As we have said earlier depression can strike anytime. Things like struggles in marriage or relationships. Or depression can be caused by losing a loved one in our lives. The reasons for depression that I see in my depression counselor practice varies so much. But knowing when to help someone in need is very important.
You would know that someone needs help already if he/she is depressed for a long time already. If you see someone depressed for days and they start to withdraw they may need help.Or if someone has started to avoid social interaction then he/she already needs help too. As a family therapist San Diego I have seen all these symptoms. Once you see them you need to seek out help.
The reason you want to seek help is because often times a depressed person may hurt themselves if left to themselves. But they can also hurt other people and that is the more important reason. Usually this happens when the depression turns to anger. When a person feels helpless and hopeless he becomes enraged at his life. That is when I use my anger management counseling services to help them. Because that anger can hurt others at this point.
So as you can see depression is a serious condition. You must act fast if you know someone close to you that has been depressed for a time now. Their safety and others safety could be at risk.
